Here he is sitting up on his own. Today for the first time he sat up on his own for quite a while (even without the chair back behind him)... he actually did it better on the hard floor and even stopped himself from falling forward by putting out his little hands. :) His downfall is the sides though... he topples that way and can't stop himself yet. Oh yeah and he likes to eat his hands like that... obviously his gums are feeling a bit odd because his teeth are getting ready to come in so he likes to keep the chewing action going. lol Pretty much anything his head gets near he will chomp on!

Babies are just so awesome! lol I think if they showed a funny babies show on television instead of the nightly news every night the world would be a different (and much better) place. ^_^ I'd much rather watch stuff like this than hear about all the crimes etc going on in the world.

Well I was right right from the beginning! Squiddy is a boy!!! :D I've been saying my first born child would be a boy for years now! hehe


Look at his little face!!! It was so exciting... and Matt was all happy and proud daddy-ish it was so cute! ^_^

The first doctor told us she was 100% sure it was a boy. Then the second doctor came in and he said ...so you think you're having a boy? And he said... well I don't think you're having a boy... I think you're having a horse! lol So I guess it was fairly obvious that Squiddy was a boy. hehe

Now we have to choose a final name! :D

On our little tour down south with my parents we also went on a cruise of the lake... and to see some waterfalls. It is just SO beautiful down there!

So this is our apartment block... we are in tower two (the one on the left). We moved apartment although it was only one floor different! lol But now we pay less rent, still have the maids (praise god for the maids!) and we now have 2 bedrooms and 2 balconies instead of one. :) Plus a much nicer view!

New Years Eve was quiet but lovely. We stayed home and watched the fireworks from the roof of our building... heaps of people were up there drinking and oohing and ahhhing at the fireworks. :) Then we came back home and watched lots of episodes of Lost. We only just started watching it last week. We are addicted!

Ok so I know my birthday was like over a month ago but now I am FINALLY getting around to posting pictures from it!! As I said before, Matt made me breakfast in bed that day (and it was very yum) then he took me out for an Indian dinner (which is my favourite) and THEN he had a surprise planned for me. He took me out to Hotel Valdivia for the night. Some of you might remember I made an entry a while back about this awesome hotel with themed rooms, but for those who don't remember I'll refresh your memory...

The Caracol (Snail) Room ...that is built like the inside of a snail shell...
Super VIP rooms (equipped with living room, terrace, bar, jacuzzi and sauna).

And so here we are below enjoying the room. The room included a light dinner and champagne, which was delivered through a secret door in the wall. We lit the lovely aromatherapy candles Matt's parents gave me for my birthday and I wore my birthday tiara (yay!) and we sat back and enjoyed the lovely warm spa.


When we were eating dinner at the Indian restaurant a girl came around offering each woman in the restaurant a little black bindi for her forehead. This was cool and odd because we've eaten there many times and this was the only time it ever happened! So there you can see the little bindi on my forehead.

Hotel Valdivia is such an amazing hotel... I wish that Australia had something like this!! It was the most awesome birthday surprise ever!!! It really was magical!!!

My parents (and Matt's too) came to visit for a month.

On September 11th here in Santiago (the anniversary of the day Pinochet seized power back in 1973) there were a lot of protests in the street. So of course Matt wanted to go out and see the action. Reluctantly, after the smoke inhalation fiasco, I agreed to go for a walk through the city.


The police had their scary vehicles sitting around waiting for action, but other than that the streets were very quiet.

This creepy tapping monkey was in a random store window.


He was so disturbing we had to stand there looking at him for a while... and I even took a little video of him (right click and 'save target as') and his irregular tapping on the glass (unfortunately the video is on its side as I keep forgetting to film things the right way up and don't have software to rotate these videos). I have no idea what kind of mechanism was running this little guy but it was like he was possessed or something! lol
