I bet all of you guys remember poor little Pepe our sick lovebird we had in Chile (rest in peace Pepe :( ). Well you will also remember that her mate Papi went to live with _smashing_mona_ when we moved back to Australia. Mona just sent me an image of Papi! ...and his new ladyfriend Mimi!!

I think that Pepe is looking a little bit fluffier and a fair bit fatter than she was in the last photos. I will have to get some more good photos soon for comparison. :)

I finally bought some toys for the birds with the donation money... and after just receiving more donation money I shall go shopping very soon to buy them MORE toys! Yay!! :D

BTW... Pepe and Papi are doing well. They are very happy and Pepe seems slightly more fluffy than she was before. They've both been up to mischief... in particular Papi has escaped a few times. The first time it was my fault cause I was trying to give them a bird bath (because we originally put junk mail paper in their house that seems to have discoloured their feathers ever so slightly... D'oh! Needless to say they now have nice clean white tissue to snuggle in.)

The second time he escaped is still a bit of a mystery. The last we saw the maids were cleaning out Pepe's cage. We left them to it and then when we came back out the maids were gone and Papi was running rampant in the apartment. I think perhaps he escaped and the maids didn't know what to do so they just left him out. lol Poor maids. As if it isn't bad enough they have to clean up after a spoilt little featherless lovebird! >_<

Today I went on a little outing on my own in search of souvenirs...


Strangely enough there was a tan coloured koala toy in amongst the Chilean souvenirs. o_O I'm not sure how that is a South American souvenir but oh well.

I thought you'd all be pleased to know that Papi has come down from the side of the cage and has been snuggling with Pepe (well, she's been leaning on him and he's kinda been leaning away). She's also been grooming his feathers. Unfortunately he can't return the favour. o_O hehe

I'm just hoping she doesn't take to plucking his feathers out too! lol O_O

So Pepe has finally found happiness!!! YAY!! I hope they will breed and we get little baby Pepe's one day! ^_^

I also forgot to mention the funny man at the petstore who, thankfully, could speak a reasonable amount of English. He was telling me how Papi would make a strong and hansome mate for Pepe. Then he started giggling and said 'he will give her the good sex!' in his strong accent.

It was both incredibly funny and somewhat disturbing all at once. o_O lol

How could anyone not love this bird!? Look at that solitary tail feather!

So, as I said in my last entry, we got Pepe!! We went back to the boarding house and asked if we could buy Pepe. The lady wanted 20,000 pesos for Pepe and the cage (that's around AU$40). It was more than we'd planned on but we had to get Pepe... so we agreed. We may not be eating this week... but Pepe is safe! :P
