I loved the little waterfall in the background here.

Fruitillar

So while we were travelling down south with my parents... we visited a town called Fruitillar (Fruitilla is the Spanish word for strawberry... Strawberry Shortcake is called Frutillita here! hehee). Fruitillar is a little German shoreside village on the massive Lake Llanquihue.

On the way through the town I took a lot of photos out the van's windows.

Even more quaint German style houses... )

Puerto Varas

Puerto Varas was a sleepy little town right next to the big lake. Many things down this way have a bit of a quaint German feel to them.
We stayed at...

It was so cute... )

That church was so beautiful!

And we are having turkey!! YUM!!!

Also yesterday I went and put my wedding dress design in and also an order for some custom white wedding boots. Both should be finished sometime in the next 2 weeks!!! YAY! Thanks so much Carolin ([info]lobolita) for helping translate everything that was going on!

Then Carolin, her boyfriend Juan, me and Matt went out to El Naturista a yummy vegetarian restaurant.... and then Club Cultura Alternativa which was really cool. They make great pisco sours too. :D

So after our Christmas dinner at Mona's place tomorrow night then on Christmas day we will cook our own chicken and vegetable roast... and then that night we are going to have drinks at another friends house. It's going to be a great Christmas! ^_^

Tonight we are going to Blondie. Anyone else going? We realised we have to make the most of it before we go back to Australia since there are not clubs like that in Brisbane.

Buenos Aires!

Ok... so finally I am getting around to posting all the photos from our travels. So... back on the 18 Aug we went to Buenos Aires for a few days.

Here we are tango-ing it up!! hahaha Ok so really we went on a bus tour and they took our photos... pasted our heads onto these bodies and then, at the end of the trip, they presented us with these 'special surprise' photos (that cost about AU$10 lol). We had to buy it cause it's so hilarious!

A night at the orchestra!

I have bought a bunch of cool new stuff... and we went to the orchestra!

A very spooky building. I would like to live here I think.

More stuff... )

A sneak peek at some of my new little faces. Still unfinished (I am waiting on paints from Australia). :D

My new FAVOURITIST boots in the whole wide world!!! I was imagining boots EXACTLY like this to go with my new skirt and then I found them (even in my size) in a second hand store here for 5,000 pesos (again AU$11.50). What were the odds!!?!?! I was SOOO stoked. Plus they are just about brand new too!

Me wearing my new skirt (from Dos Caracoles) and my new mega bargain boots! I can't wait til I can wear this to Blondie! :D Ooh and look on the table you can just make out a lovely rose that Matt brought home for me one day. ^_^

And more stuffs... )

It fried Matt's brain...

...and made him go CRAZY! :P lol

Mendoza!!

It all started with a silly handwritten note Matt left for the maids...

The winding road we had to take up and through the mountains. I guess this was part of what was closed off when we tried to come back.

More snowy stuff... )

Aww so cute!

More horseyness... )

In conclusion... the difference between us getting home in time to see The White Stripes... and us being caught on a bus for  24376343 hours - ok really it was 16 hours - and totally missing The White Stripes).

But how can I be mad at such lovely fluffy white snowy goodness!?!

Protests, parties and burnt up houses...

One night from our apartment we could hear people chanting and blowing whistles in the street so we decided to go down and see what all the noise was about. We figured it would be a protest of some sort.

It was quite a peaceful protest. They were just slowly walking along with candles chanting. And the police were directing them down towards the mall so they would get off the street and let the traffic pass.

Then we went to a birthday party! It was a friend's brother's birthday.

I learned how to say Feliz Cumpleanos (happy birthday). These people are so lovely. I love how welcoming people are here in Chile. Look on the coffee table... there is a big jar of Vegemite!! hehee Pepa (the girl in the aqua shirt down the front) had that leftover from when she had shared a house with some other Australians. So she gave us a HUGE jar of Vegemite. We now have Vegemite!! Woohoo!

More photos...

Not last Friday but the one before (goodness was it that long ago? It's been AGES since I've updated!) Matt and I met up with Andrea ([info]nocturnus33) and she gave us a tour around the city. Andrea is so lovely... I thought so from livejournal but she was even more lovely in real life!

She drove us so far around the city to look at a bunch of really cool and interesting things. Next time we go she's going to take us to the cemetary! Yay!

Firstly we went to El Golf metro station to meet up with Andrea. It was quite pretty there and it was a gorgeous day!

Many, many more... )

Our New Apartment...

After our dramas at the boarding house we found an organisation called Contact Chile (http://www.contactchile.cl) who helped us find a fully furnished apartment that rents by the month (which gives us awesome freedom). The rent is $300,000 pesos a month (AU$150 a week) and it includes furniture, cutlery and crockery etc, electricity and gas and a daily maid service including daily fresh towels, weekly fresh sheets and full apartment cleaning (including the dishes!). It's GREAT!

It's a very new apartment on the 11th floor. I love it so much! It's also been a bonus because the amount we are paying affords us extra help from them... for example Ana from Contact Chile even made my doctors appointment for me. :D

This is our apartment block. Strangely enough I took this photo one day when we were wandering around the city... before we even knew the apartment was for rent. I just thought it looked like an interesting and cool building. Little did I know I'd be living there within the week!
